Our Environment

The school fulfils and continues to maintain a very important role in the Greater Polokwane area. Its emphasis on providing quality English medium school education has ensured it an excellent reputation both locally and further afield.

Our learners participate widely in academic, culture and sporting activities and their many notable achievements over the years continue to make us proud. The school continues to live up to its motto,  “Education Makes A Difference” and whatever is attempted is done with that in mind.

Learn By Doing

Our Education approach provides opportunities for all our learners to be valued equally, to cater for their individual differences and to foster attitudes of respect, understanding and empathy.

In addition, our Remedial Class bridges the gap in the learning progress by providing supplementary Reading and Numeracy to learners who have fallen behind. The Remedial Tutor assists learners in a separate classroom to overcome Reading weaknesses and thus develop reading mastery and proficiency.

A Word

From Our Principal

I endeavour to foster a user-friendly teaching/learning environment that nurtures and produces unstoppable well-rounded critical thinkers to become the best versions of themselves. I subscribe to the notion of education prevailing in fully inclusive, embracing and supportive conditions with equal opportunities for all our learners.

-Dr. R. Hasha

Culture

We offer cultural activities such as choir and art to give our learners opportunity to creativity. Participation in these activities helps the learners to build self-confidence, develop essential life skills and broaden their world views from a young age. Through choir and art, learners can express themselves and discover their hidden talents.

Our school choir has a history of winning prestigious Eisteddfod certificates. In 2017, we received a Prestige Provincial Eisteddfod certificate, and Gold in 2018 and 2019.

It is very encouraging to witness children from different cultural backgrounds coming together to share their knowledge and experiences through these cultural activities. It also gives us confidence to see our learners overcoming performance anxiety and building self-confidence, gaining time-management skills, having an increased sense of accountability and freedom of expression. This also enhances their academic performances and development of life skills.

Sports

“ Sport means all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental wellbeing, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels. We at Elica primary School care about your child’s health and well-being.  Sports teaches the value of sacrifice, discipline, elegance, liberality, and solidity, which enables individuals to lead successful lives. Through sport we teach values such as fairness, teambuilding, equality, discipline and respect. “
